What is breathwork?

Breathwork is, simply, the intentional manipulation of your breath. If you've ever meditated, you may have observed your breath as part of that. With breathwork, you're actively and consciously controlling how you breathe with the goal of creating a specific physical result.

What are the benefits of breathwork?

Imagine being able to quickly change your physical, mental, and emotional state to how you want to feel, when you want to feel it. That's the power of breathwork. Need a burst of creativity for a business problem? Or maybe you're trying to "hurry up and relax" so you can get some quality rest? In either case and so many other situations learning to control your breath can help. It is the quickest, most sovereign way to take control of your nervous system.

Are there any prerequisites or requirements for doing breathwork?

No. In fact, every person who has ever learned breathwork started from zero. All you need is your breath! But certain breathing techniques aren't a good fit for everyone. If you have any medical conditions that concern you, talk to your doctor before starting a new program. Even with preexisting conditions, a breathwork coach can help you come up with a safe and effective program.

How long does it take to see results?

I often tell clients to try a technique for just 3 minutes and see how they feel afterward, because you can see the results of breathwork very quickly. Study after study has shown that just a few minutes of intentional breathing can reduce your heart rate and blood pressure. Having said that, when it comes to breathwork, more is more. It becomes more effective and more therapeutic the more often you do it. So while you can see results from just a little breathwork, to sustain the benefits, you'll want to make it part of your regular routine.

HEY, I'M CANDICE.

I discovered breathwork the hard way — sick in bed on vacation.

Desperate to keep my mind occupied, I was doing a lot of guided meditations and kept returning to one that had a breathwork element to it. It made a huge difference for me and I wanted to understand why. I started exploring when I got back from my trip.

I loved how great I felt by adding just a little breathwork to my day. This stuff was magic! But no one else I knew was doing it...

I decided to get certified as a breathwork coach so I could share the power of this incredible practice with other people. I'm also a certified menopause coach, MindBodyGreen-certified life coach, licensed Heart Centered facilitator, and Reiki Level 2 practitioner.

Even after all this training, it still blows my mind that we have access to this free, plentiful, self-renewing resource at every moment of our lives. I want you to be able to take advantage!

The name 44 Breathwork represents a few things. As an angel number (i.e. repetitive digits), 44 symbolizes both transformation and stability. Breathwork is highly transformative, and once you tune into it, your breath can be a source of comfort and stability.

44 also refers to a breathing technique called box breathing, where a full breath takes 16 seconds (4x4). The Navy Seals love it, and I do too.
